Translation:
Love’s fire within me; listen close with your ear;
You carry the gift of hearing; what more can I say?
In the garden of blossoms, linger a moment here;

Commentary:
The stanza describes the state of a lover whose heart is ablaze with divine love. The “fire” is the inner longing placed by the Beloved(God), and “listening with the ear” means using the awakened ear of the heart and not just outer sensory ear. The listener already has the spiritual capacity to understand such states, so the lover admits that words cannot express what burns within. The garden is Garden of love, urging the seeker to pause and behold it. In nutshell, someone with an awakened inner ear needs little explanation for silence itself reveals the truth.

The gardens of flowers arose in full-blown grace;
In every blossom, the Beloved veiled His face.
For every spring, an autumn comes to chase,
By Love’s wind, like falling leaves, I lose my trace.
Commentary:
The “garden of flowers” is the awakened heart or state of love being felt by the lover, where divine beauty appears in every blossom. But spiritual states fade; every spring of closeness is followed by an autumn of separation. When the winds of love blow coupled with separation or yearning, the seeker becomes emaciated like a wilted flower.

Awaken now, O nightingale, awake;
The flowers withered without seeing spring break.
Commentary:
The stanza describes the spiritual journey: the soul’s true nourishment lies in the hidden Divine root; from that root, the blossoms of Unity appear; the seeker is urged to awaken like the nightingale and witness this truth; yet a grief remains, for many hearts, lost in sleep, wither without ever beholding the springtime of Divine Union.

The flower withered away, though it bloomed in Unity’s sea;
Only the one knows the ache whose heart He stole to flee.
The love-thief stands as a public executioner in the end,
Striking me down while posing as a friend.
Commentary:
The heart dries up in longing, but it blossoms when united with the Beloved. Only the one wounded by love truly understands this pain. The Beloved ends all yearnings by destroying the lover in love,
pretending to be a friend even while giving the sorrow of separation.

I am drowned in the river (of my despair);
I’ll speak my lamentations, make him recall what we once did share.
The love-thief, that devourer of human hearts,
After stealing mine, his inattention imparts.
Commentary:
The lover is drowned in the river of longing and the agony of separation from the Divine. And the lover exclaims that he will voice inner grief and lamentations to seek grace of beloved. The “love-thief, that devourer of humans” represents the Beloved, who annihilated many a (seekers) lovers in His love. And the inattention of beloved after stealing heart is proverbial lore of love caught between separation and seeking of union.

In the embrace of warmth, melted like a mass of snow
Streams burst forth even without the Sun in show.
Commentary:
The stanza captures the soul’s yearning for the Beloved, inviting a playful immersion in divine love. The pain of separation and the longing for union has been depicted by being tortured slowly in fragments. In the embrace of warmth i.e., the closeness of beloved being felt even while in separation, the soul melts like a mass of snow, experiencing the gentle touch of divine presence. Yet even without attaining full union, streams of tears burst forth, ecstatic and spontaneous, expressing the joy and rapture of feeling the Beloved’s nearness. It portrays the mystical truth that even the mere taste of closeness to the Beloved can fill the heart with profound delight, despite separation.

Translation:
In vain I searched the Beloved in distant lands,
Yet the Beloved was near, right within my hands.
Goblets on goblets of gnosis poured free,
Revealed by Nyama, though sober as could be.
Commentary:
The beloved was within me while I searched for Him outwardly. The Poet, Nyama, revealed the intimate knowledge about the God in full senses thus adding authenticity and reliability to the divine wisdom so revealed.
