69. Naazneen Yaareh Myaani: G N Dolwal
Poem about rendezvous and its forms.
Naazneen yaareh myaani yi chhu mulaqath.
O my sweetheart friend, this is (what is called) rendezvous.
Kaansi huend jinazeh niwaan,
Kaansi chhey baraat yiwaan.
Kanh chhi sada naaleh diwaan,
Kaansi aasaan maenziraath.
Naazneen yaareh myaani yi chhu mulaqath.
Someone's funeral procession is being carried,
Someone's wedding procession arrive.
Someone eternally cries out lamentations,
Someone has pre-wedding night arranged.
O my sweetheart friend, this is (what is called) rendezvous.
Explanation:
Union has many manifestations. Someone achieve it by dying and someone by eternal union with the beloved. Some seek it by crying their heart out and some are at the verge of achieving it (Maenziraath indicates just a step away from almost lifelong union)
Gah mey korum chaani chaani,
Gah mey wonui roz saani.
Gah mey parem ashqeh ghazal,
Gah mey wanim munajaath.
Naazneen yaareh myaani yi chhu mulaqath.
At times I endeavoured to be with you,
At times I implored you to stay here in my home.
At times I read out the love poems,
At times I rendered the hymns.
O my sweetheart friend, this is (what is called) rendezvous.
Explanation:
For tryst with the beloved, the poet says he at times endeavoured to be in the company of beloved and at times implored beloved to stay in his. Towards this he even showered love poems onto his beloved and at times sung hymns. All for a tryst.
Loalih chhusai lol baraan,
Surah e Ikhlaas paraan.
Loalih chaani chhus bu maraan,
Dohas gayem nesif raath.
Naazneen yaareh myaani yi chhu mulaqath.
Passionately I display love for you,
(And) Recite the Surah e Ikhlaas.
In your love, I keep on dying,
My (bright) day turned into midnight.
O my sweetheart friend, this is (what is called) rendezvous.
Explanation:
When in love a person likes everything associated with the beloved and uses those things to get closer to beloved or try for eternal union. In the pursuit of union, a lover passes through many stages where he feels like dead or life's illumination fades away before his own eyes.
Oonch neech ma chhu rawa,
Itihaaduk yi chhu muda.
Asil kath tariy ne fikri,
Kath chhi wanan musawaath.
Naazneen yaareh myaani yi chhu mulaqath.
Ups and downs are not suitable,
The object of union is exactly this(i.e., evenness),
You did not understand the real precept,
(That) what is called as evenness.
O my sweetheart friend, this is (what is called) rendezvous.
Explanation:
The ebbs and flows of love are not right and for eternal union there should be evenness of love from both the sides. You(a person not in love or seeking union) will not understand this evenness where both lover and beloved approach each other fervently with same zeal.
Zooni lagi chooni jaran,
Az pagah taeth gharre ti karan.
Janbaaz yetti chhu wuchhaan,
Wuni ti panini zaath paath.
Naazneen yaareh myaani yi chhu mulaqath.
The moon deserves the embroidery of jewels,
If not today, tomorrow (the lover) will win it,
Janbaaz is still looking out here,
For his own tribe and folk only,
O my sweetheart friend, this is (what is called) rendezvous.
Explanation:
The moon may connote the heart of lover or lover itself. It deserves the adornments of beloved. Someday the beloved will win it over but the poet, Janbaaz, is still looking for a beloved who reciprocates his love with the same intensity. Only then the union of lover and beloved is possible.
