In crossing (a river etc) will get me across, in hitting will kill for me,
Will feed my friend, the apples and pears.
The staff is hand-held, will ascend me to the Mount Tuur,
And my dear, it's also my third limb.
Aasih: عاصہٕ : Staff, Stick, Cane
Maalih: مالہٕ : Dear
Explanation:
The use of Staff is Prophetic tradition. The first and line may be hinting towards the episodes of Prophet Musa(AS) wherein he split the river into two by striking it with his Staff and swallowing of serpents of other magicians when he threw his own staff that became bigger serpent. Another use of Staff is that it can be used to get fruit from trees without climbing the one. The Staff is also helpful in ascending any steep cliff or mountain. And finally, the poet brings forth the most essential use of Staff i.e., it becomes one of the limbs in the old age and keeps a man going.
