56. Syed Ali Khan ؒ:Qisa e Tameem Ansarؓ

 قصّہ تمیم انصار رضى الله تعلىٰ عنه : سید علی خان علیہ رحمہ

When the chained Dajjal saw Tameem Ansar(ra), he asked these questions so that he could know whether his freedom from the chains is near or far in time.

دوپنم ونتہ حضرت چھا حیاتی

کہالت ما چھہ در صوم و صلوٰتی

Dopnam wante Hazrat chha hayaeti, 

Kahalat ma chhi dar saum wa salati. 

Asked me if Prophet(pbuh) is still alive?

Is there any lethargy in fasting and praying? 

زنانہ ما گُرین پیٹھ چھہ کھسأنی

چھہ ما نا محرمن سئیت اسأنی

Zanane ma gurren peth chhi khasaeni, 

Chhi ma na-mahraman seeit asaeni. 

Are women mounting the horses? 

Are they (roaming) with the non-related males? 

بیی ونتم چوان ما کانھ شرابی

دوان وڈ تہ ہوان ما کانھ چھہ لابی

Beyi wantam chewaan ma kanh sharabie, 

Diwaan wadd te hewaan ma kanh laabie.

وڈ

Profit (in a mercantile transaction); (in a sale) discount, an agreed reduction in price (to complete a speedy sale). The word is translated 'crookedness', said with regard to a ring by the person to whom it is offered for sale, apparently to cheapen it.

And tell me if anyone drinks wine? 

Is anyone dealing in crookedness(in mercantile transactions) and interest (based trade)?

دروغس پیٹھ گواہی ما دیوان کانھ

چھو ما مال یتیمن ہیوند کھوان کانھ

Darogas peth gawaehi ma diwaan kanh, 

Chhu ma maal yateeman huend khewan kanh.

دروغ: Falsehood، Lie

Does anyone become witness to the falsehood? 

Does anyone swindle the property of orphans? 

بیہ ونتم چھہ ما فسق روادار

نیچوَ چھا مالین فرمابردار

Beyi wantam chhi ma fisq ravadar, 

Nechi chha maalen farman-bardar.

Moreover, tell me if grave open sins are tolerated? 

Are sons obedient to their fathers? 

زکوٰتس منز چھو ما گومت کانھ کاہل

مہ دوپمس یدوائ کانھ کانھ چھہ غافل

Zakatas manz chhu ma gomut kanh kaehil, 

Mey dopmas yodwai kanh kanh chhi gaefil. 

Has anyone become lethargic in (paying) Zakat? 

I answered, even though only a few are indulgent,

تمن نش کینژنی ظاہر چھہ اطوار

مسلمان پننس کلمس خبردار

Timan nish kenhchnie zaehir chhi atwaar, 

Musalman paninis Kalimas khabardaar. 

(But) From few only these acts are evident (i.e., these types of disobediences are rarity in our society),

(In general) the believers are cautious of their faith (i.e., they follow all the precepts of Islam).

This is a very long Masnawi. The above couplets are just an extract from it.
