45. Shams Faqir: Kaabas andi andi...

 کعبس اندی اندی ہیتہ پھیرُن یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Kaabas andi andi hete phairunye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane didaar.

Try to circumambulate around the Kaaba,

Only then will you yourself catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

Circumambulating around the Kaaba is to make your heart center of love like the Kaaba is center of the worship. Once you make your heart the center of love, you will find the beloved there.

وُچھتن سمندر سنہِ کھوتۂِ سوْن یے

نہ چھے تتھ سُم تے نہ چُھہ تتھ تار

ڈُنگۂِ وس ڈُنگلو لال کھارُن یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Wuchhtan samandar sanni khotte sonye,

Na chhey tath sum tai na chhu tath taar.

Dungih wass dunglo, laal kharunye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane didaar.

سُم: sum : Bridge

ڈُنگلو: dunglo : Diver

Observe the Ocean, deeper than the deepest,

Neither is there any bridge nor any crossing.

Dive you O diver, fetch the pearls,

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

The ocean of love cannot be crossed by any means except by diving into it. Once a person dives in the love, he/she will fetch the pearls therein (pearls equate to different forms of remembrance of Almighty). Once a person dives in and fetches the pearls, he/she will find the beloved.

لال یلہِ کھالہان، لاگُن مولوُنے

اتھ خریدارا أسی تیّار

باو یلہِ حُریس تے بنکھ ادِٔ سوْن یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Laal yelli khalhaan, laagun molwunye,

Ath kharidara aaesi tayyar.

Baav yelli huress tai banakh adde sonye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane didaar.

مولوُنے: molwunye: Fixing/adding price to anything 

When you fetch the jewel, start adding value to it,

The buyer will be all ready for it.

When its value increases, you will then become gold,

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

Once you fetch the pearls (Remembrance of Allah) then add value to them by following the rules of the game. Whenever, you need to barter them for any of your need, the buyer (Almighty) will always be ready to pay you. And when the value of the pearls increases day by day, you will yourself become gold by the association of pearls. Once you are gold in love, you will yourself see the beloved vividly.

غأفل پانو ما لاگ اون یے

دیدو وچھتو پانہِ دیدار

تُل تو ژِٔ قدم یار ژھارُن یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Gaefil pano maa laag onnye,

Deedo wuchhtov paane didaar.

Tul tov chhi qadam yaar chhaarunye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane dīdār.

O ignorant self! Don’t behave like a blind,

By your own eyes catch your own sight.

Lift your foot (i.e., start) that will find (you) the beloved,

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

A person having means (i.e., Love) to reach God shall not become ignorant not to employ the means. Poet exhorts the self (that is in love) not to be ignorant in search of one’s true essence and meaning. Ignorant here doesn’t mean uneducated or unenlightened but the one who becomes lazy or loses interest temporarily.  A person persistent in the path of love will see the beloved.

دوپُکھ روٗحس مرِس اژُن یے

تتھ جاۓ روٗحن کوْر انکار

وعدٔ دیوتھس بیئ چھئ نیرُن یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Dopukh Roohas marris achhunye,

Tath jaaye Roohan korr inkaar.

Waade dyuthas beyi chhui neyrunye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane didaar.

The soul was told to enter the dovecot (body),

At that point the soul refused (the order).

Was promised that you will again leave (the body),

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

The soul was reluctant to come to the world but was promised a return. The coming to world and going back to the Creator is the only way for the soul to reach its beloved.

حضرت آدمؑ ہیوتُکھ لدُن یے

آبٔ خاکٔ نارٔ بادٔ کورنۓ تیّار

ملکن دوپنۓ سجدٔ دِیُون یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Hazrat Aadam hyotukh ladunye,

Aab khaak naare baade kornai tayyar.

Malkan dopnai sajda dyunye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane didaar.

Hazrat Adam was commenced to be created,

Was built by admixture of water, soil, fire and air.

Angels were told to prostrate,

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

When you will realise how Adam came to be created and how Angels were made subservient to him, only then will you realise how much your Creator love you and thus this realisation will make you see your beloved vividly.

ملکوکٔرِہاے سجدٔ دأیم یے

تتھ جاے ابلیس سپدوی خار

یتہِ کیوہو تتہِ تس افسوس کھیون یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Malkov karihaii sajde daeyimye,

Tath jaaye Iblees sapdui khaar.

Yetti kyoho tattie tas afsoos khyonye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane dīdār.

The angels did everlasting prostrations,

The Iblees was left wretched at that place.

Not just here but there as well he will feel sad,

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

When you will realise how Iblees, the Chief of Angels, was damned till eternity, you will get to know your own worth and therefore love more and more your beloved Creator.

وتہِ مو راوتو ہا غأر زانو

وتھ ہا لبٔن چھے سیٹھا دُشوار

شمؔس فقیرو سِر نہِ باوُن یے

ادٔ وُچھکھ نوْن یے پانۂِ دیدار

Watti mov raavtov haa gaaer zaano,

Wath ha labbin chhey settha dushwaar.

Shams Faqeerov sir ne baawunye,

Adde wuchhakh nonnye paane dīdār.

Don’t be lost from the Path, O ignorant!

Finding again the Path is very difficult.

Shams Faqeer dont dispel the secret,

Only then will you catch the vivid sight (of beloved).

One should not stray away from the path shown by the mentor. A person losing the guidance of the mentor rarely finds the path again. Whatever your mentor discloses to you regarding the path to reach your oneself and subsequently to the Almighty should be followed in letter and spirit. Once you are onto the path of love to find the beloved, the same should be kept close to your chest lest everything gets ruined by the show-off.

 And when you clandestinely search your beloved, someday you will definitely find him.
