5. Sochh Kraal: Badkaar paanov khodrah...

Badkaar paanov khodrah draakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Taawan chhu duniya, yor kyazi aakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Khodrah: One who chooses his own path.

Taawan: Plague

O sinner self, you turned to be on your self-determined path,

(Alas!) You did not remember a thing.

The world is plague (full of afflictions), why did you come here,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

Pusht e padar paede yelli gokho,

Dar shikm e maadar chhaakh.

Haal wan haal kya maaji yelli zaakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Pusht e Padar: Back of father

Shikm e Maadar: Womb of mother

When you got created in the back of father,

Into the womb of mother you entered.

Tell all what conditions were when you were born of the mother,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

As Quran says about our creation in 86:05 to 86:07:

Let people then consider what they were created from!

They were created from a spurting fluid,

stemming from between the backbone and the ribcage.

Aabeh naareh khaakheh baadeh aadam ladnovun,

Milwan kaeris zaatan.

Waad hyotui zaatan addeh marris chhaakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Baad: Air

Morr: Dovecot

Of water, fire, earth, air got Adam built,

Intermixing done by the Creator.

The Creator made you promise, only then you entered the dovecot,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

The Quran says in 07:172

And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam – from their loins – their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes, we have testified.” [This] – lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, “Indeed, we were of this unaware.”

After the soul testified in the world of souls that Allah indeed is its Lord, it was put into the body (dovecot) for being tested in this world. And unfortunately, most of the souls forget their solemn declaration.

Woni dini draayos ath azal laenis,

Su no mey wannay aam.

Ha azal laanyo, sorkas draakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Woni dyun: To know thoroughly

Azal Lan: Eternal Destiny

Sorkas: Weak memory

I proceeded to comprehend this eternal destiny,

(But) that did not come to my cognition.

O my eternal destiny, you turned out to be failed at memory,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

I tried to fulfil the promise made in the world of souls (probably referring to the soul as “eternal destiny” as they had their share of it in the “world of souls”) but failed. My soul turned out to be failed at memory to fulfil its solemn promise.

Kriyan pan-nen karma kartov

Wognen roz tov sha'ye.

Haa bahi wuchhtov sahi ma draakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Kriya: Deeds

Karam: Favour

Wogun: Shallow

Shaye: Fixed/established in a position

Bahi: Account book

Do favour to your good deeds,

Establish yourself in the shallowness.

See your account book, you did not turn out to be right,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

Don’t boast of your good deeds. Consider yourself shallow in terms of good deeds. If you still can’t do that see your account of your deeds and you will find most of the deeds are not worth acceptance.

Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Verily Allah the Exalted is pure (tayyib). He does not accept but that which is pure.

This hadith refers to all good deeds that a man can do. Allah does not accept any deeds that are spoilt or done for showing off to others, those that contain an element of ostentation or show.

Khatith bu ruudus malakul moutas,

Chhatith (su) taalav aam.

Ha ratith nyoonas, khotui draaso,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Khott: Counterfiet currency

I remained hidden from the Angel of Death,

It came tearing down the ceiling.

Alas! It seized me (and) I turned out to be a counterfeit,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

Khodi traevith La Huut parr tov,

Sarr tov Allah Hu.

Adde paak sapdakh ha naapaako,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Lahoot: In divine presence, a stage where the Sufi becomes one with God. The final destination. Like Allama Iqbal(ra) says, “Aye Taair e Lahooti, us rizq se mout achhi….”

Shun the ego, grasp the Lahoot,

Bear in mind the remembrance of Allah.

Only then will you be purified, O impure,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

Be-zaan barr tal hoon zan dolaan,

Chhum no kanh hewaan naav.

Ba amal kom gayi non adde draakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Ignorant, on the door unappreciated as if a dog

Nobody (even) mentions my name.

(When you got to know) who the obedient ones are, only then you came to prominence,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

Only the person with good deeds is prominent in the divine world. All others are like stray dogs.

Qudrachhi tihinzay woni dinie draayos,

Sodras lobmas ne pai.

Chhoinn lagim atti gath, waen kyazi aakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

Sodr: Ocean/Sea

Athh-gath: Coming and going backwards and forwards; trouble, worry, running hither and thither.

I ventured to know the power of Almighty,

(But) I could not find the depth of His Ocean.

Found short my visits, what for did you come now?

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

Trying to reach one’s creator in the fag end of one’s life is a futile attempt. Finding one’s visits short means that the hard work done to find God is deemed not enough and the time to go for further hard work is not handy because of fading age. The imagination of poet makes him hear from the God that why did you come to me now!

Kameen aasith zameen laagtov,

Samith pato sorui nin. Peto sornen

Ha sochh kraalo pachhi laazi aakho,

Chey na yaad ruudui kenh.

(Despite) being Ignoble, cultivate the land,

At last, everything will be taken by (people) assembling together.

O Sochh Kral! You had come here as a guest,

(Alas!) You (ungrateful one) did not remember a thing.

There is not any sin that the Almighty may not forgive if forgiveness is sought. Cultivating the land means to do good deeds.
