پر ان پران تہ پر گئی

تم کھر گئی کتاب بورا ہیتھ.

یم دلہء نشہء با خبر گئی,

تم نر گئی فضل تہ عطا ہیتھ.

Transliteration:

Paraan paraan te parr gayi,

Tim Khar gayi kitaab bora heth.

Yim dil'e nish ba khabar gayi,

Tim nar gayi fazl te ata heth.

Translation:

Reading and reading, and become strangers,

Those donkeys went with book loads.

Those who knew what the hearts needs,

They went with grace and favour.

Explanation:

Padh padh ilm hazar kitabaan, apne aap na padhiya.(Baba Bulleh Shah)

Mere gaining knowledge without acting over and without getting to know one's own self is like becoming a donkey that carries load of books without getting any benefit from it. And those who gain knowledge with the aim of acting over it, gets to go to their Lord with grace and favour.
